V. Ramesh

V. Ramesh’s paintings are expressed as a quest for freedom through the act of devotion, in response to existential tragedies. He is a painter of poetry and in his work he pays personal tribute to the idea of ‘bhakti’, by obliquely using voices from medieval poetry and imagery. Ramesh studied Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University (1984). In his extensive career, he has done numerous solo and group shows nationwide, including those in Gallery Thereshold, Max Muller Bhavan, Sakshi, Pundole, Gallery Escape and more. He has also participated in 'The Intuitive: Logic Revisted', from the Osians Collection at The World Economic Forum, Davos, Switzerland (2011), 'Evolve: 10th Anniversary Show', Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai (2010), the second Biennale in both Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal (1988) and in Havana Cuba (1982). Ramesh is a recipient of Senior Fellowship from Department of Culture (1995-97) and the Junior Fellowship from Department of Culture (1990-93).

The artist now lives and works out of Vishakapatnam.
