Akbar Ali

"Religious wars are not caused by the fact that there is more than one religion but by the spirit of intolerance. . . the spread of which can only be regarded as the total eclipse of the human reason" - Montesquieu

Akbar began his artistic practice in the language of impressionism and realism and gradually became fascinated with Islamic ideology. He finds ‘Islam’ and the idea of religion to be grossly misinterpreted across the world. He continues to study issues surrounding violence, war, terrorism, and how they interact with religion. Major outbursts across the world, such as Syria, Paris, Egypt, etc. have tremendous influence on his practice, which for him is a medium of documenting and in turn understanding the world that surrounds us.
